- In Austria, invention patents are protected for up to 20 years from the filing date. Annual renewal fees become payable each year from the 6th year onwards, and are due by the last day of the month in which the anniversary of the filing date falls.
- The renewal fee may be paid up to 3 months before the due date and a 6-month grace period applies if the fee is not paid by the due date: in this case the renewal fee may still be paid within 6 months after the due date, subject to a surcharge of 20% of the applicable fee.

- In Austria, utility models are protected for up to 10 years from the end of the month in which the application was filed. Annual maintenance fees become payable from the 2nd year after registration and must be paid each year before the last day of the month corresponding to the filing-date anniversary.
- If a maintenance fee or extension fee is not paid by its due date, the applicant or owner may still pay it within a 6-month grace period, subject to a surcharge of 20% of the applicable fee.

- In Austria, a registered industrial design is protected for up to 25 years from the filing date. Renewal fees are payable every 5 years (i.e., at the end of each five-year term) and become due on the last day of the month in which the design-application was filed.
- If a renewal fee is not paid by its due date, the owner may still pay within a 6-month grace period, subject to a surcharge of 20% of the applicable renewal fee.
