How to Withdraw / Correct a Community Design Application

Withdrawal and Amendment/Correction:

Applicants can withdraw their Registered Community Design application at any time during the examination process. In the case of multiple designs, specific designs within the application can be individually withdrawn. Corrections are allowed only under certain special circumstances.

Withdrawal must be submitted in writing, and if an application date has been granted, the official fees are non-refundable.

At the applicant’s request, corrections are limited to the name and address of the applicant or agent, clerical or obvious mistakes, such as:

• Filing date
• Designer’s name
• Second language
• Brief description
• Classification number
• Priority date, number, and country
• Exhibition priority date, number, location, and description

In principle, designs cannot be altered post-submission; this applies even if a revised brief description is submitted on the same day. No modifications or supplementary descriptions submitted later will be accepted unless expressly requested by the EUIPO.
