- Thailand invention patents are protected for 20 years from the filing date, provided that annual maintenance fees are duly paid. No annuity is required during the application stage.
- After grant, the patentee must pay the first maintenance fee covering the 5th year within 60 days from the grant date; if the patent is already beyond the 5th year at the time of grant, all accumulated annuities up to the current year must be paid at once.
- Starting from the 6th year onward, annuities must be paid every year on or before the anniversary of the filing date.
- Thailand does not provide a formal grace period with surcharge for late payment - failure to pay the annuity by the due date results in the lapse of the patent, although patentees may optionally choose to pay all annuities for years 5–20 in a single lump sum to avoid future deadlines.
Thai Utility Mode (Petty Patent) Annuities
(The fees were last updated on October 27, 2025. The information is based on the local patent office's database.)
| Patent Year | Official Annuity (THB) |
| 5th year | 750.00 |
| 6th year | 1500.00 |
| Or pay the total amount upon the first yearly royalty payment | 2000.00 |
| First time | 6000.00 |
| Second time | 9000.00 |
- Thailand petty patents (utility models) are protected for an initial 6-year term from the filing date, and the term may be extended twice, each time for 2 additional years, allowing a maximum protection of 10 years.
- Renewal fees are not paid annually; instead, they are paid per renewal period. The first renewal fee is due at the end of the initial 6-year term, and the second renewal fee is due at the end of the 8-year term.
- Each renewal must be paid on or before the due date, as Thailand does not provide a grace period with surcharge for late payment. Failure to pay the renewal fee on time results in immediate lapse of the petty patent right.

- Thailand design patents are protected for 10 years from the filing date, and renewal fees must be paid to maintain the registration. Renewal begins at the 5th year, and fees are due for each year from year 5 through year 10.
- The design renewal fee for each corresponding year must be paid within 120 days after the end of the 4th year (i.e., entering the 5th year), and subsequently before each year’s due date.
- Thailand provides a grace period within this 120-day window, during which the renewal may still be paid with an additional fine.
- The official fee table lists both the regular fee and the “including fine” amount for each renewal year.
- If the renewal fee is not paid within the allowable period (including the fine period), the design patent right lapses and cannot be reinstated.
