Kazakhstani Patent Annuities

• In Kazakhstan, invention patents are maintained through annual fees payable each year from the 1st to the 20th year of protection.
• The annual fee becomes due each year on the anniversary of the filing date and must be paid within the established time limit.
• If the patentee fails to pay by the normal due date, a 6-month grace period is available in which the fee may still be paid together with a surcharge. 

Kazakhstani Utility Model Annuities

• The validity of a Kazakhstan utility model lasts up to 8 years, provided annual fees are correctly maintained.
• The annual fee for a Kazakhstan utility model must be paid each year of validity, beginning from the first year after filing.
• Fees increase progressively from year 1 to year 8 (the maximum protection term for utility models). Payment may be made by legal entities, natural persons, each having different fee levels.
• If the annual fee is not paid by the normal due date, it may still be paid within a 6-month grace period, but only with a surcharge. Failure to pay within the grace period results in the lapse of the utility model. 

Kazakhstani Design Annuities

• Annual fees for Kazakhstan industrial designs must be paid every year, beginning from the first year of protection.
• Design protection can extend up to 25 years, and the annual fee amount increases at multi-year stages (1–5, 6th, 7–8, 9th, 10th, 11–12th, 13–15th, 16th, 17–18th, 19–20th, 21st–25th).
• If the fee is not paid on time, the applicant may still pay within a 6-month grace period with the required late surcharge. If payment is not completed within the grace period, the industrial design expires and cannot continue in force.
