- Annuities should be paid for each year following the year of grant of a patent. The due date is the last day of the month on which the filing date anniversary falls.
- If a renewal fee is not paid by the due date, the applicant or owner may still pay it within a 6-month grace period. A 25% late fee of the annual fee must be paid as a penalty.

- A design registration renewal application must be submitted. The application must include a petition for renewal of a design registration (completed design registration renewal application), specifying which designs are subject to renewal, if the registration is complex.
- Renewal fee is to be paid at the time of filing the renewal application. If the deadline for filing for renewal is missed and the registration of the design has expired, the Patent Office shall, at the request of the proprietor, grant an additional period of 6 months after the expiry of the registration and shall renew the registration if the corresponding additional fee has been paid together with the renewal fee.
