- The annual fee should be paid each year from 5th year of the filing date after granted. If the annual fees become due when the application is still pending, they should be paid within 4 months from the grant date. The annual fees can be permitted to be paid in an accumulated manner.
If the renewal fee is not paid by the due date, it may still be paid within a 6-month grace period, subject to an additional surcharge of EUR 100.00.
Italian Utility Model Annuities

Italian utility models are protected for a maximum term of 10 years from the filing date, and the system requires only one renewal fee, which is paid at the beginning of the 6th year. The renewal fee amounts to EUR 500, covering the entire second five-year period (years 6–10). The payment is due on the fifth anniversary of the filing date, and a 6-month grace period is available with a surcharge EUR 100.00. Failure to pay within this period results in the lapse of the utility model.

- The Italian design protection period lasts 5 years from the application filing date and can be renewed, by paying the maintenance fee, for four 5-year periods up to a maximum total of 25 years.
- The 1st - 5th annual fees are included in the grant fee. Renewal fees should be paid every 5 years, within the last 6 months of each 5-year protection period. The due date for annual fee payment is the last day of the month in which the application date falls.
- If the renewal fee is not paid by the due date, the proprietor may still pay it within a 6-month grace period, subject to an additional fee EUR 100.00.
