- In Switzerland, invention patents are protected for up to 20 years from the filing date. Annual fees are required starting from the 5th year after filing. The annual fees are due each year on the last day of the application month.
- If a renewal fee is not paid by the due date, the applicant or owner may still pay it within a 6-month grace period, subject to a surcharge of 50 CHF.

- In Switzerland an industrial design registration is valid for an initial term of 5 years from the filing date and may be renewed, upon payment of the renewal fee, for additional five-year periods up to a total of 25 years. Renewal fees are payable every five years, on or before the expiry of each 5-year term. 100 CHF for each additional design in the same application
- If a renewal fee is not paid by the due date, the applicant or owner may still pay it within a 6-month grace period, subject to a surcharge of 50 CHF.
