- In Poland, invention patents are protected for up to 20 years from the filing date. The fee for the first protection period (in the amount indicated in the decision on granting the right) must be paid within 3 months of the date of grant. Further annual fees should be paid each year in advance within 1 year before the expiry of the previous protection period, no later than its last day.
- If a renewal fee is not paid by the due date, the applicant or owner may still pay it within a 6-month grace period, subject to a surcharge of 30 % of the applicable annual fee.

- In Poland an industrial design registration is valid for an initial term of 5 years from the filing date and may be renewed, upon payment of the renewal fee, for additional five-year periods up to a total of 25 years. Renewal fees are payable every five years, on or before the expiry of each 5-year term.
- If a renewal fee is not paid by the due date, the applicant or owner may still pay it within a 6-month grace period, subject to a surcharge of 30 % of the applicable annual fee.
