- In Monaco, invention patents are protected for up to 20 years from the filing date. The first annuity fee is due upon filing the patent application, and the second annuity must be paid before the anniversary date of the filing. For patents granted by the European Patent Office that designate Monaco, annuity payments are required by the last day of the month in which the filing anniversary occurs.
- If a renewal fee is not paid by the due date, the applicant or owner may still pay it within a 6-month grace period, subject to a surcharge of 20 % of the applicable annual fee.

- In the six months leading up to the anniversary date of the initial filing, or at the latest within six months after that date. The anniversary date is calculated as ten years from the date your registration application was filed.
- If a renewal fee is not paid by the due date, the applicant or owner may still pay it within a 6-month grace period, subject to a surcharge of 50 % of the applicable annual fee.
